Overview

Baltimore / Amish Country

1st Day (Friday):We travel first to Pennsylvania, arriving at Kitchen Kettle Village, in Lancaster County, where we find all that the region has to offer in terms of crafts and homemade food products. After lunch we go to the Amish Region.
These descendants of the first German settlers, who arrived in 1683 fleeing religious persecution, are mostly humble farmers that cherish peace and reject modernity, living today much in the way their ancestors did. They use horses and horse drawn buggies for transportation; and people of all ages and genders wear the simple, monochromatic clothes of the early Puritans; no epidemic of technology here. On the way to our hotel in Harrisburg, capital of the state, we will see the city’s metropolitan area and the beautiful Susquehanna River.

2nd Day (Saturday): Today we go to the famous Baltimore Inner Harbor; a fine example of an American city. After a delicious lunch we head to Washington, DC, the majestic capital of the United States, founded in 1790. Vibrant and diverse, the city will leave you speechless; after seeing a few iconic places will take a cruise along the Potomac River, to get an amazing view of the city –this tour is a taste of Sunday’s visit. Then we go to the hotel.

3rd Day (Sunday): We start by seeing and hearing about the imposing George Washington Masonic National Monument. Then we go to Washington D.C. to visit, among other, the Lincoln, Vietnam, Thomas Jefferson, and Martin Luther King memorials; the White House, and the National Mall (a strip of 11 Smithsonian museums). We’ll have free time for lunch and to visit a museum of our choice –the National Gallery of Art will please any art lover and the Air and Space Museum will please children and adults.

Places You’ll See :

America's Most Historic Prison Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America's most notorious lawbreakers, including "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.
