Overview

Boat trip on the Potomac River

1st Day (Saturday): This tour visits our nation’s Capital, the city of Washington D.C. Today, 228 years after its establishment, D.C. has evolved into a vibrant city filled with diverse neighborhoods, fabulous museums, world class cultural events, and of course political intrigue. Washington D.C. is a city of contrast. The center of the city is beautifully designed with wide avenues, magnificent buildings and monuments. The city of Washington D.C. was designed by Pierre L’ Enfant. When L’ Enfant first saw the hill upon which the nation’s capital now stands, he proclaimed it a pedestal waiting for monuments and designed his city with the hill as it’s center piece. After lunch, we will visit the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, Neptune Fountain, Supreme Court, National Archives, and the White House. Afterwards, we will head towards Georgetown via Embassy Avenue where we have programmed a boat cruise for the tour group along the Potomac River. After the boat cruise we will have free time in the Georgetown bay for dinner before checking into our hotel in the evening.

2nd Day (Sunday): The morning focuses on the first president of the United States, George Washington; starting with the G.W. Masonic National Monument (photo op & short talk). Then we’ll see the Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, MLK Jr. and Vietnam Veterans memorials; as well as The National Mall; a strip of monuments and 11 museums, belonging to the Smithsonian Institute, all free. We’ll have free time to lunch and visit the museum of our choice: for example, the museums of Air and Space or Natural History will please both adults and children; and the National Gallery of Art, will delight the most demanding plastic arts’ enthusiasts. The guide will indicate the time to return to NY and NJ, arriving around 10:00 pm.

Places You’ll See :

America's Most Historic Prison Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America's most notorious lawbreakers, including "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.
